ACCESSIBILITY
Built to be usable by everyone in the network
Crosshire should work for every member, whether you use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom, voice control, or a phone in a loading dock. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

Where things stand
Crosshire partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA. Most of the app works with a keyboard and a screen reader, but we know about the gaps listed below. This is based on our own review and hands-on testing. It hasn't been audited by a third party.
What's in place
- Interactive parts (dialogs, menus, selects, switches) are built on Radix UI primitives, which handle keyboard support and screen reader roles
- Pages declare their language and use landmark regions (header, navigation, main) so assistive tech can move between them
- Animations are reduced when your system asks for reduced motion
- Sign-in uses an emailed link rather than a password, so there's nothing to memorize or type into a timed form
Known gaps
We're tracking these and fixing them as part of regular work:
- Some toggle buttons and category chips don't announce whether they're selected
- A few controls (the text-alert switches on Profile, inline gear edit fields) are missing accessible labels
- Illustrations in the "How it works" tour can receive focus and are announced when they shouldn't be
- Accepting an offer happens immediately, without a confirmation step to catch accidental activation
- Some layouts get crowded at narrow widths around 630px
- There's no skip-to-content link yet, and the app has a light theme only
- In dark-mode email apps the Crosshire logo in our emails can be hard to see
If one of these is blocking you, let us know. We can help you get the task done another way, such as posting a request for you, while it's being fixed.
Get help or report a barrier
Email rentals@wearestepchild.com. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you use. Crosshire is a one-person project, so this is a best-effort commitment, but we aim to reply within 5 business days. Accessibility fixes go ahead of new features.
Prefer a different format, like a plain-text copy of a page or a phone call? Ask and we'll arrange it.
